Our Daily Elder Devotional: The Apple of God’s Eye

Our Daily Elder Devotional
We claim no originality for these devotions. One of our elders searches various sources and finds a daily devotion. Consider this a gift from Clinton Avenue Reformed Church: www.clintonave.org.

Today’s devotional comes from “Hope for Each Day” by Billy Graham.

The Apple of God’s Eye

Psalm 17:8New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Keep me as [a]the apple of the eye;
Hide me in the shadow of Your wings

Footnotes:

  1. Psalm 17:8 Lit the pupil, the daughter of the eye

Do you know who you are?  You are the apple of God’s eye.  Just as the pupil is in the center of your eye, you are the center of God’s attention.  You didn’t chose God; He chose you.  Before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb, God saw you.  And the Scriptures teach that God has already approved and accepted you.  He may not be pleased with every decision you have made, but understand this extremely important truth:  God is pleased with you!

If God approves you, why don’t you accept and approve yourself?  The Scripture doesn’t say that God approves you as long as you don’t make any mistakes, as long as long as you don’t have any weaknesses.  No, God approves you unconditionally.  He accepts you and loves you in spite of your faults (and He knows all of them).
