Our Daily Elder Devotional: God’s Unconditional Love

Our Daily Elder Devotional
We claim no originality for these devotions. One of our elders searches various sources and finds a daily devotion. Consider this a gift from Clinton Avenue Reformed Church: www.clintonave.org.

Today’s devotional comes from “Hope for Each Day” by Billy Graham.

God’s Unconditional Love

Psalm 8:4-5New International Version (NIV)

4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?[a]

5 You have made them[b] a little lower than the angels[c]
and crowned them[d] with glory and honor.

Footnotes:

  1. Psalm 8:4 Or what is a human being that you are mindful of him, / a son of man that you care for him?
  2. Psalm 8:5 Or him
  3. Psalm 8:5 Or than God
  4. Psalm 8:5 Or him

God wants us to have healthy, positive self-images, to see ourselves as priceless treasures.  He wants us to feel good about ourselves.  Despite our faults and weaknesses, God loves us anyway.  He created us in His image, and He continually shaping us, conforming us to His character, helping us to become even more like the person He is.

Consequently, we must learn to love ourselves, faults and all, because that’s how our heavenly Father loves us.  You can walk with confidence knowing that God loves you unconditionally.  His love is based on what you are, not what you do.  He created you as a unique individual—there has never been, nor will there ever be, another person exactly like you, and He sees you as His special masterpiece!
