Our Daily Elder Devotional: Pass the Blessings On to Others

Our Daily Elder Devotional
We claim no originality for these devotions. One of our elders searches various sources and finds a daily devotion. Consider this a gift from Clinton Avenue Reformed Church: www.clintonave.org.

Today’s devotional is from my heart to you.

Pass the Blessings On to Others

Numbers 6:24-26 New International Version (NIV)

24 “‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’

Note: “The Lord” used here is YAHWEH, or “I Am”, not a reference to the Lord Jesus.

1 Peter 3:8-10 New International Version (NIV)

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For,

“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.

God pours his blessings out upon us.  We are then expected to bless others.  Through your actions and speech, God’s love is shown to all those you meet.  God’s blessings spread through me.  I must fight against the pull of the world.  I must get involved in something greater than myself.  I must reflect on the blessings that God has given me.  But I must remember that the measure of my spirituality is my devotion to Jesus Christ, not my service to others.

As the late Robert A. Cook would say:  “Walk with the King today, and be a blessing”.
