You Are Not Alone
September 1, 2020
Read: 1 Peter 5:6-11
Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (v. 9)
I became interested in the prevention of human trafficking my junior year of high school, just a few months after I ended an abusive relationship. I had a lot of things ripped away from me during that time. I was distant from friends and family. I felt absolutely alone. However, when I finally asked for help, I was able to get it. When I learned about human trafficking, I realized that not everyone is so fortunate. I committed myself to doing my part to end human trafficking and help people rebuild their lives once they’re safe from their traffickers.
First Peter 5:6-11 reminds us that all people are worthy of being put back together after the devil has torn them apart. We are called to be humble, give all our worries to God, and remember that God has dominion over everything. In my own dark days, I used to cling to verse 10. I looked forward to the restoration and strength God brings. However, when I looked closer at this passage, I realized I had passed over verse 9, our key verse. In my pain, I thought I was the only one to experience what I had suffered. I now take these five verses together because I know no one is alone in their experiences, and we will not be alone in our restoration. —Kelly Brace
As you pray, remember you are not alone, and that God will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us.
