It Is the Accuser
June 12, 2021

Read: Revelation 12:7-13

Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. (v. 10 NIV)

We were serving among the Tojolabal Indians in Chiapas, Mexico. One morning, I was putting the clothes through the wringer of our old washing machine. Suddenly my mind became cluttered with negative thoughts: “Who do you think you are that you can be a missionary? Remember how angry you were with that person. Where is your forgiveness? Remember when you said that. Where is your kindness? How do you think you can tell anyone about God’s love when you don’t live it yourself!” The accusations became louder in my mind, filling my head and heart with confusion!

Suddenly, the words “It is the accuser” came to my mind. And I knew that it was Satan accusing me.

Stopping the washing machine, I said: “Satan, you are the accuser. You have no power to discourage me. My sins have been washed away in the blood of Jesus Christ. I have been made clean through his death on the cross. Your accusations have no power over me. Leave in the name of Jesus Christ.”

I praised God for identifying the accuser for me. Through his power, Satan was silenced. My heart was filled with peace.  —Helen Hofman

As you pray, praise God for breaking the power of Satan. Share with him all your fears.
